Skiing

We are getting more snow today. It is very peaceful here in the house, Ryan and Reagan and Avery are up north visiting my grandparents and doing some cross country skiing. I am at home with the little kids, cleaning the house and preparing for the baby, who is scheduled to arrive on Thursday!

Here are some pictures my dad took of the boys skiing the Barnebirkie:

Week in Review: 2/9-2/13

We had a good week here, I think we are all happy to be back to our routines in our normal surroundings! Here are just a few pictures:
Here Jameson works with the cylinder blocks from his Montessori shelf. He likes to build towers. I tried to show him how to put the cylinders in order, from the widest to the thinnest, but you can see by the little cylinder to the left that he didn't get the whole "order" thing. Not yet!
Avery worked on this activity, matching animals to picture cards. I think I'm going to introduce some animal classification lessons with him and Mary in the next few weeks.

Reagan did this grammar activity, he labeled the parts of speech with the symbols, rather like diagramming. You can see we had to go over linking verbs!

The kids had a lot of fun on Wednesday exchanging Valentines with their friends from our homeschool group. They all had parties at their classes, and came home with decorated bags of candy and cards!

I haven't fallen off the earth!

Just a quick note to say that I am here, and explain my absence from blogging. After a long battle with kidney cancer my mother passed away on January 28th. I was privileged to be able to spend her last three weeks with her. I am now in the process of getting back to "normal" and settling in to being home again before the baby comes in a few short weeks! You can read about my mom on this Caring Bridge site.
